Thanks for the G2G message - our project is very informal and not really set up for the kind of in-depth research you are involved with at present. I added the Project Badge for you and we do sometimes communicate via the Google Group but it's not required. Right now we are trying to identify Huguenot emigrants and their families who already have WikiTree profiles - please read the Project Page about TEMPLATES and the Stickers we suggest adding to those profiles (and our own as a Huguenot Descendant). Let me know if you have more questions about that but I am just not equipped to do research right at this time.
When looking for some information on my great, great grandfather, Peter McGrath, who immigrated to the USA from Clonolvy, Ireland and was born ~1839 I was looking for his father Matt or Grandfather, John and came up empty on first look, but did find John and Matt both living in Tankardtown, Clonolvy.
Do you know if it was common for immigrants to change their name from Magrath to McGrath when they came over? I have seen very few Magraths over here, but am seeing no McGraths in Clonolvy pre-1850 (though there are a number of Magraths both in Clonolvy at that time.)

I have been researching my Family Tree for around 2-3 years, sometimes obsessively. My tree covers the Sharp family in Cambridgeshire UK and the Magrath/Crowe family in C19 Dublin. I can claim no great expertise in FH, but as I worked as a researcher (different field) I do have a habit of always trying to find confirmation of evidence. And am happy to help and share information where I can - we shouldn't all have to go over the same ground - well not more than is needed to be sure of our facts!! iem
