Biography
When John Mahan was born on April 27, 1750, his father, Thomas, was 19 and his mother, Margaret, was 18. He married Mary Scott in 1771 in Maryland. They had five children in 18 years.
Private John Mahan Sr. served with 13th Virginia Regiment (1777), Continental Army during the American Revolution.
John Mahan Sr. is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A073145.
John served in the Virginia Military from January 1777 to September 1778. from
He died on April 7, 1820, in Bibb County, Alabama, at the age of 69, and was buried there in the Mahan-Smith Cemetery.
