Martin C Maher was born c. 1837 in Ireland and settled in Western NY before 1860.

He worked for the Erie Railroad as a brakeman. He died walking home on December 20, 1894, in Corning and is buried in St. Mary's Orthodox Cemetery in South Corning, New York.
