WALTER L. MAHNKE

Walter Louis Mahnke, 75, of Shady Land Home, Manitowoc, died Saturday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. N.W. Kock will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Mr. Mahnke was born May 9, 1897, at Manitowoc, son of the late Henry and Minnie Pingel Mahnke. He was a World War I veteran. He married Gertrude Redlich in 1923 at Manitowoc. She preceded him in death in 1939. He then married Luitgard Schaffner in 1951 at Buffalo, N.Y. He was a machinist. Survivors include his wife; a son, a step-son, a daughter, and a step- daughter (Survivors omitted for privacy.); a sister, Mrs. Arthur Gerphriede, of Pasadena, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren. Two brothers preceded him in death. Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday until noon Tuesday and then at the church until the time of service.
