Biography

Mary was the older daughter of Daniel of Dunloe Castle.

She was mentioned in a property deed of 1820^[1] that mentions "Danl Mahony the younger & Darby Mahony Esq sons of sd Daniel Mahony the elder & Elizth his wife all of Killarney aforesd Mary Mahony and Margaret Mahony spinsters daurs of sd Daniel Mahony the elder & Elizth his wife all of Killarney aforesd".

In his 1834 will^[2] her brother Darby's bequest to her was "my father's Marriage Settlement for younger children the interest of which said third of two thousand pounds late Irish Currency I will and bequeath to my affectionate Sister Mary Mahony".

She died in 1873 aged 78.^[3][4][5] Her will written in 1859 mentions a charge on the estates of her brother Daniel of Dunloe Castle. This charge would be inherited by Daniel's daughter Mary. If she were to die unmarried it would pass to her sister Elizabeth and then to sisters, Frances, Margaret and Marcella in turn. Daniel was to be her Executor but if he pre-deceased her and that role passed to his son John.^[6]
