William was born in Ireland and transported for Uttering forged notes in 1802. He was sentenced to death but was sent to Australia after being held in Cork Gaol.[1]

Note: William Mahoney was granted 40 acres of land at Appin NSW in 1819. In 1820 he purchased another 10 acres.
