Biography

Giuseppa Maida is a Corleone native resident, the daughter of Maestro Pietro and Mattea Maida. I estimate she is born around 1662, twenty years before she marries.

Giuseppa marries Lorenzo di Napoli on 7 June 1682. Her father has died by this time.[1]

Lorenzo and Giuseppa have at least four children: Laura (c. 1692), Pietro (c. 1696), Antonino (c. 1704), and Giovanni (c. 1715).

I estimate Laura is 20 years old when she marries.

I estimate Pietro is 20 years old when he marries for the first time. He is named after his maternal grandfather.

I estimate Antonino is born around 1704, twenty years before he marries.

Laura marries Giovanni Paternostro on 30 October 1712.[2]

I estimate Giovanni is born around 1715, twenty years before he marries.

Pietro marries at least twice, first to Anna d'Ira on 26 April 1716. Lorenzo and Giuseppa are both still living.[3]

Antonino marries Antonia Liuria on 27 November 1724. Lorenzo has died by this time.[4]

Giovanni marries Domenica Ficara on 6 February 1735. His mother, Giuseppa, is still living.[5]

Pietro remarries, to Domenica Catanzaro, a widow, on 2 October 1754. Lorenzo and Giuseppa have both died by this time.[6]

Open Issue: According to Marco Paternostro, the wife of Lorenzo di Napoli, and mother of Laura Napoli, is named Angela.[7] However, Laura's marriage record calls her mother "Josepha," the Latin form of "Giuseppa."

Laura and Lorenzo are a married couple from Corleone. I estimate they are born around 1672, twenty years before their daughter.

Laura and Lorenzo have at least one child, Laura (c. 1692). I estimate Laura is born around twenty years before she marries.

Laura marries Giovanni Paternostro on 30 October 1712. Her parents are both still living at this time.[8]
