During the War of 1812, Philip Main served as a private in the 2nd York Militia in 1812 and 5th Lincoln Militia in 1813. He served from October 17 to 24, 1812 in Capt. William G. Hepburn’s Company. 
He was on duty from October 25 to November 24, 1812 in Capt. William G. Hepburn’s Company. 
He was absent from the 5th Lincoln from September 17 to October 24, 1813 from Capt. Charles Depew’s Company. 
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Philip by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
