Biography
Francis Ward Major was born on 12 August 1840, at Ahmedabad, Bombay, India.[1][2] He was the son of John Philip Major (1806-1840) and Cecilia Burnes (1815-1840).
Francis married Adelaide Forbes (1842-1897) on 6 June 1863, at Exeter, Devon, England.[3][4] They had five children.

- Violet Major (1866-1937)
- Francis Forbes Major (1867-1946)
- Charles Philip Major (1873-1907)
After Adelaide's death, Francis married Elizabeth Pirouet (1867-1944) on 15 January 1898, at Anglesey, Carnarvon, Wales.[5][6] They had two children.

- Irene Vera Major (1901-1998)
He passed away on 22 April 1917, at Ramsey, Isle of Man.[7] Francis was buried on 26 April 1917, at Gresford Cemetery, Gresford, Wrexham, Wales.[8][9]
