Biography

Mary was born about 1740 the daughter of Bernard Major.

John Daniel who was the overseer to Henry Trice made a deposition on June 25, 1799 in a lawsuit between Thomas Trice and Francis Moreland. He testified that "thirty-four or thirty-five years ago he saw Thomas Trice going home from the house of his Father-in-law Bernard Major of Dinwiddie County in the State of Virginia and that this happened the day after the said Thomas had married the said Bernard's daughter…". He further stated that "after Thomas Trice came to North Carolina this Deponent who had also come to this State engaged with him as his overseer..." he continued that it would "be thirty-five years next September since Mr. Trice was married so that I believe I was about twenty one at that time" and later "I was well acquainted at both the houses of Mr. Major and Mr. Trice."[1]

She passed away after 1803.
