Mary was born between in 1838.[1] in Cariboo (or Caribou) Cove (now Port Malcolm), Nova Scotia. She is almost definitely the daughter of David Malcolm (1792-1875) and Mary (Proctor) Malcolm (1798-1881). [2]She married Alexander MacKenzie in Cariboo Cove in 1861.[3] In 1901 she and Alexander are living in Ainslie Glen (North East Wycocomagh Census District) with two sons, three daughters and two grandchildren.
In 1911 Alexander and Mary continue to live in Ainslie Glen. In the household are their children Bridget, 35; Donald, 33; and Femie (presumably Euphemia), 28. Also listed as a daughter is Catherine, 14, but this is almost certainly their granddaughter, daughter of Mary Jane, who in the 1901 Census was living with them as Mary C. Finally, two grandchildren are identified: Winburn, born June 1903 and Rosey, born January 1905. These are most likely the children of Bridget, and their father was a James F McKenzie, to be distinguished from James A, Bridget's brother.
She died in Ainslie Glen in 1915 and is buried in Stewartdale Cemetery.
