Biography

Robert was born on 9 Jun 1800 and baptised on 16 Jun 1800 in Portmoak, Kinross-shire, Scotland. He was the son of ^[1]

He was a farm labourer, living at Mayfield, Orwell with his wife and four daughters aged from 7 to 16 in 1851.^[2]

Robert died in Orwell, Kinross-shire on 16 Apr 1880.^[3]

There is information that he was in Orwell, Kinross and in Loudon, Ayrshire in the 1851 Census.

Then in 1860 in Michigan, United States but back in Orwell, Kinross for the 1861 Census.

Update: Changed the original birth location from Greenock to Portmoak as there was no evidence to support Greenock as the location. Changed original death location from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania to Orwell, Kinross, Scotland as a death record was found.

Several of the siblings and at least one child attached (Robert Malcolm Jr. b. 27 Jun 1825 in Glasgow) don't appear to belong in this family group and may eventually be removed. Janet and Jessie are most likely the same person.

This is a different Robert Malcolm, as the son of Alexander Malcolm and Janet Young died in 1880 in Orwell.
