Hi Barry

The Arborists Project is currently making some changes, starting with a change of the Arborists Project Google Group. The link to request to join the new group is on the Arborists Project page. Alternatively, if you send me your preferred email address for google groups, I can send you an invitation to join. Thanks for being part of the Arborists. We look forward to you being involved as the Project moves forward. Gillian, co-Leader, Arborists Project

Hi Terrilynn

You are quite right about different spellings of names. And it is up to the Profile Managers as to which spelling they wish to have on the merged profile. The correct spelling is of course how the name is on the birth certificate BUT this in most instances is not available. So it comes to your judgement and what is most likely to be generally accepted.

And all that is not much help - so my suggestion is to select the spelling you think is correct and make a note in the Biography about the different spellings.

Although it is said that once the merge is completed the LNAB can not be changed, and it does cause problems, but it is possible. And I would seek help and advice before making the change. I hope this helps and let me know if there is anything else. All the best Barry

Barry,

May I ask you a question? You made this comment on Ralph Isaacs: When attempting to complete the merge - Ralphn Isaacks (Isaacks-18) and Ralph Isaacs (Isaacs-290) this warning was encountered. Do not complete this merge unless Isaacs is the correct Last Name at Birth. If Isaacks is correct, click here to reverse the merge. If neither is correct, change the Last Name at Birth on Isaacs-290 before doing the merge. ...Would you please resolve the Last Name at Birth so this merge can be completed. Regards Barry Malcolm Wikitree Arborist.

My question is this: How do you resolve the last name? Early ancestors are found in public docs as "Isaacks" and current relatives use "Isaacs". I know you have encountered this issues before. Please help.

I changed his surname to Reichardt-133. Those would be the two to merge now. 15 & 133.

Hi, Barry, I am currently updating joseph Reichardt with 2 wives and children. Data differs with biography on Reichardt-15 page. I have a few children to add and should be ready by tomorrow. Thanks!

Hi Malcolm, Find myself with a bit more spare time so would like to put some 'Family Tree' down, all in good time. Paul XL

Thanks, Barry, for the Cartrette merge. Cartrette is a well-known name in the same North Carolina region where the Soles (Soule) name is well-known. Cartrette is a new name in my family tree so it will be fun doing some research.
