Biography
Born about 1593, John Malet was the eldest son of Sir John Malet of Enmore [1] and his wife, Mary Popham, daughter of Sir John Popham. [2]He was educated at Middle Temple 1612, before travelling abroad and succeeding to the estates of his father on 20 March 1615. [2] He was returned to Parliament as Member for Bath in 1624.
By 1636 he was married to Ann Tracy, daughter of Sir John Tracy of Toddington in Gloucestershire and his wife, Anne Shirley. They had a son and 4 daughters (one of whom died in her father's lifetime).[2]
John died in 1644 [1]and was buried on the 10th of April. [2]
