Biography

Stéphane Mallarmé was a famed poet, translator, and critic. He was one of the leading French poets in the Symbolist tradition.

Etienne (Stephane) Mallarmé was born on 18 March 1842 in Paris. He was the son of Numa Mallarmé and Félicie Desmolins. He was the husband of Marie Christine Gerhard. He died on 9 September 1898 in Valvins, a hamlet of Vulaines-sur-Seine.[1]
