Between 1952 and 1953 he served as U.S. Deputy Attorney General in succession to A. Devitt "Gus" Vanech. Malone was a Truman appointee: he did not remain in post following the election of President Eisenhower.
Between 1958 and 1959 Malone served as President of the American Bar Association.
Between 1967 and his death in 1974 Malone served as Vice-President and Chief Legal Officer at General Motors
Rosser Malone died (aged 63) in August 1974.[2][3]
