Biography

Hugh was born about 1869/1870. He was the son of James Malone and Margaret Eade.

In 1874 he arrived in Wellington, New Zealand, aged 4, with his parents and siblings.[1] (Ages stated for James and Margaret are underestimated!)

In March 1880 he was an inaugural student at the Makino Road School, Fielding. Relatives also attending included Annie Curreen, Elizabeth Curreen, Mary Malone and Joanna Malone. [2]

In 1926 Hugh is mentioned in his mother's obituary as Hugh of Feilding

On 17 May 1939 Hugh Malone passed away, aged 68. [3] Note: This age of 68 at death would place his birth between May 1870 and May 1871. His age of 4 as stated in the passenger list, if applied to arrival date of March 1874, implies birth in early 1870.

Hugh is buried in Row B Plot 31 of the Porirua Cemetery, Wellington. [4]
