Mary Malone was born in Virginia about 1762 to Jeremiah Malone and his wife. (His wife name might have been Biddy or Bridget, but no documentation to her name has been found). Jeremiah Malone and his family moved to Rowan, North Carolina sometime before 1784 when Jeremiah Malone received two land grant patents for 300 acres and 625 acres. Mary married Elijah Philips in 1784 in Rowan, North Carolina. Mary and Elijah had 3 sons and 4 daughters between 1784 and 1797. Elijah, her husband, dies in 1806 and she never remarried. She died on 25 Jan 1828 in Franklin County, Tennessee, but there is no documentation to support this date and place. There has been no record found for where and when she was buried.

The 1800 census data doesn't quite make sense. Needs more work and research. Wonder if Ezekiel and Margaret got married before previously reported.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:
