There passed away suddenly at Uralla, on Friday morning last, a highly respected resident in the person of Mr. John Joseph Maloney.
The late Mr. Maloney, who was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Maloney, of Aberdeen, was not unknown in this district, having conducted a business in Scone many years ago. He also, in his younger days, was an employee of the A.C. and F. Co., Aberdeen, and for upwards of 20 years made his home in Uralla.
Of a kindly and cheerful disposition, the late Mr. Maloney made many friends, and the memory of his good deeds, though not recorded, will live long in the mind and heart of those who knew him best.
He leaves a widow (a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. Ryan, of,Uralla) and one son, Pte. J. J. Maloney, A.I.F. returned, to mourn his loss. Another son, Mr. William Maloney, and a daughter, Mrs. R. McGinty, predeceased him.
One sister also survives, viz., Mrs. W. Gunter, of Aberdeen.
The funeral, which was largely attended, took place on Saturday afternoon, and the wealth of floral tributes bore 'further testimony to the respect and esteem in which the deceased gentleman and his family are held. Rev. Father Condon officiated, at the Roman Catholic Church and at the graveside.
