Dianna was born in Ennis, Texas on August 1st, 1945 to Carl and Margaret (Wear) Maloney. She graduated from Ennis High School in 1963. Dianna attended East Texas State University, graduating in 1967 with a degree in Education. She began her teaching career in 1967 with the Giddings Independent School district as a math teacher. Teaching was her passion and during her 29-year career Dianna made a positive impact on the students she taught. She was the teacher sponsor for the Giddings Middle School Drill Team and assisted with many other school programs and activities. Dianna formally retired from teaching in 1996 but continued to substitute teach for several years.

Dianna married Fred Woodward Hannes, Sr. on January 30th, 1976. They were married for 41 years until Fred’s death in 2017. Dianna was a wonderful stepmother to Fred’s sons and thoroughly enjoyed her role as grandma – spoiling her grandsons every chance she could. Dianna enjoyed traveling and together she and Fred took many US road trips and several trips internationally. She enjoyed spending time at the family farm in Lincoln, Texas especially celebrating family events such as birthdays and holidays. Dianna was also a talented artist and enjoyed painting, drawing, and calligraphy.

Dianna was an active member of the Giddings First United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the Giddings Study club, and involved in many other organizations throughout her lifetime. She was a giver with a huge heart, quietly helping those in need and never asking for anything in return.
