Charles was born on 12 Dec 1847 at the Turkey River site, Clayton, Iowa, wheres the Hochunk people had been settled by treaty. He was the son of Peter Manaigre and Angelique Decora.

Military Service

Charles served in the Union Army with Co. F, 1ˢᵗ Minnesota Heavy Artillery. (Find a Grave) This unit was raised in November 1864 and sent to garrison Chattanooga, Tennessee, where it saw no action and was mustered out on September 27, 1865.


He was married to Eliza Pélagie Faribault on 30 July 1870. (MOMS)


While living in Shakopee, Minnesota in 1880, his occupation was that of a plasterer and whitewasher. In the same town in 1920, he was working as a wallpaper hanger. (Census)

1875 — around the beginning of this year, he first moved to the city of Shakopee, Scott County, Minnesota. (1895 MN census)


He passed away on 22 Jan 1938 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is buried at the Valley Cemetery, Shakopee, Scott County, Minnesota. (Find a Grave)
