JEAN MANDEVILLE Status : Immigrant
Jean Mandeville received the sacrament of confirmation on 24 May 1669 in Champlain. The record lists him as Jean Mendeville, de Rouen.[2][3]
The first notarial record found of Jean Mandeville in the colony was in 1676, a lease before notary Jean Cusson that he received from René Blanchet in Champlain.
Marriage
No marriage record nor contract has been located, Jean Mandeville married Françoise Mousseau dite Laviolette some time before 1681, Françoise Mouceaux (sic) being cited as his wife on the baptism of Jean François Rivière her nephew on 23 Jan 1681 in Repentigny where she was godmother.[4]

Death
Per the record in Sorel, Jean Mandeville died on 13 Aug 1704 and was buried the same day in the cemetery of Berthier-en-Haut. Cited present were his wife Françoise Mousseau, father-in-law Jacques Mousseau, Jacques Mousseau the son, and others, none of whom could sign. The funeral was done by Louis Delafaye.[6]
NOTE: there is another funeral record kept in Contrecoeur which states he died on the 12th and was buried on the 13th in the Berthier cemetery, said record gives him around 60 years of age, and notes that Jean had received confession from the missionary who wrote the record, Louis Delafaye[7]
PRDH gives him the additonal given name of François, this may be based on a clerical error, nowhere is he named Jean François except on the baptism of his daughter Marie Françoise. PRDH ascribes all names found on records, whether clerical errors or otherwise.

Procès étrange, le dossier ne comporte qu'un état de compte. Est-ce vraiment un procès? À suivre.
