Edward was born April 7, 1851 and baptised on April 11th in St George Hanover Square, London, Middlesex, England. He was the son of Charles Manicom and Zilpah Whipham.
He sailed aboard the ship Southern Belle in steerage from London, England and arrived in Melbourne, Australia on December 18, 1870. He was single and a baker.
