Plus on Geni.com I'm aware of two instances where people had added their names/family to mine or my wife's ancestors but they don't verifiably fit
A Tauranga born lad that had 71 first cousins - from my father being No 11 of 12 and my mother the eldest of 10. I remember as a youngster going on train trips with my mother and brother Robert to see Gran Brown and her twin daughters (Aunty Twins) Molly and Margaret to holiday with them at No 1 Campbell Street in Feilding. In our early years we seemed to touch base fairly often with our (30 or so) Watkin side cousins, although that seemed to ease off later. On the Mankelow side there were regular reunions where the Uncles and Aunts took turns hosting gatherings. Then the first child of each would host the get togethers. Perhaps the best gathering for getting to know all the cousins was the one hosted by brother Robert at Ngatuhoa Lodge, Omanawa. Having a week together helped me get to know the names and their family details. With the older set especially I maybe couldn't remember their names but as they got older and started looking like their parents, at least I know which line they came from.
As a 15 year old I was blessed to be part of a contingent of NZ Scouts to the 11th World Jamboree in Greece in 1963. We were away for 3 months and had a week to ourselves for staying with relatives or family friends whilst in Britain. I got to stay with my great grandmother's Harding line, Nancy and Jack Litton in Paignton, Devon. Whilst there I was taken on a day trip that included visiting the Church Graveyard at Stoke Gabriel where I photographed the headstone of our common ancestor Henry Harding and wife Lousia Maria Hook. That photo is among the photos taken on a return visit with my wife and daughter in 2016, as explained in this link https://raybarb2016.blogspot.com/2017/03/3-day-trip-to-devon-day-2-exeter-to.html
In 1974, my wife Barbara and I were with her Canadian relatives (her mother was a War Bride) when taken to a house in Windsor, Ontario to be introduced to her Canadian line. This seemed a little overwhelming at the time but inspired us to write down as much as we could and later back in New Zealand, to start researching our family connections. This led to my recording on tape, stories from Uncle Les Mankelow (sadly, slow speed recording picked up Beatle songs playing backwards when trying to listen to what Les told us.) I was later to add to my collection of oral history recordings and have preserved some of the stories as slide shows on You Tube and Vimeo, plus I used up my free allocation of storage space on Sound Cloud. https://soundcloud.com/ray-mankelow

It is great to read you also prefer sources over guesses. That is what we fully agree upon here at WikITree :)

P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.
I did some screen shots to illustrate but I don't see that option in the Wiki reply system so I'll wander off and do my recording into www.timelesstaupo.co.nz and by the time I get to see your reply I'll have forgotten the thread - so I better put in the path over where I saved those screen grabs C:\Users\rayma\Pictures\Saved Pictures\Family Hist Photos\Wiki_MyHeritage_DNA_instructions and ditto \ MyHeritage_MyPreferences_WhereIsLinks Cheers, Ray

The only one you haven't mentioned is Wales which is where I reside. There's lots of friendly knowledgeable people on WikiTree who can help you become more familiar with the records. We all learn from one another.

I see that you have uploaded a GEDCOM, congratulations!
Have a look at the GEDCOM help pages. You should find useful info about uploading your tree. The GEDCOM does not automatically fill in your tree, but generates a GEDCOMpare report in which you either accept or reject suggested matches with existing profiles at WikiTree. There is a helpful walk-through you can check out and see if it helps you.
To be able to add profiles, you need to upgrade to the family membership--no charge.

Your 'trusted members' system hopefully avoids that situation.

We do try our hardest to get things right. But we are all human and do make mistakes, I big difference, and a plus in my opinion, is since we collaborate with each other is that we do have someone to double check our work and keep us accountable.
