Agnes Athena was born in Aberdeen, Cape Province on 16 April 1911 in Aberdeen, Cape Province; she was the daughter of David James Manley and Elizabeth Ellen Johanna (Carelse) Manley.
She was 23 years old when she married 23-year-old Bus Conductor Angus McCay on 20 Dec 1934 in Port Elizabeth, Cape Province, South Africa. [1]

Agnes passed away on 13 July 1986 and is buried in Port Elizabeth's Forest Hill Cemetery.[3][4]
