Biography

OBITUARY: Graveside services for Olefia “Cindy” Simpson, 74 of Ledbetter, Texas will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Friendship Cemetery in Paige, Texas with Pastor Mark Nygard officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 20, 2020 from 7:00 am until 8:00 pm and on Saturday, November 21, 2020 from 7:00 am until 12:00 pm at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present Friday evening from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Cindy Simpson was born on December 9, 1945 in Fedor, Texas to Oscar Paul Sr. and Bertha Amelie Anna (Albrecht) Mann. Cindy was baptized on December 23, 1945 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor. She was confirmed on May 3, 1959 at Christ Lutheran Church in Austin. Her confirmation verse was Revelation 2:10, “Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life”. She was united in marriage to James Arthur Simpson on June 1, 1963 in Austin, Texas. This union was blessed with three children, Lisa, Jimmy, and Sharon. Over the years Cindy worked for Kim’s Dry Cleaners and in the pharmacy at Eckerd Drug Store and the Bastrop Walmart. Cindy and her family were involved with the Oak Hill 4-H and always donated to the Lee County 4-H. She loved working in her garden and being among her flowers and plants where she could watch hummingbirds and other animals. Cindy enjoyed fishing, hunting, and going shopping. Her joy in life was taking care of her mother and grandchildren.

Cindy passed away the afternoon of Saturday, November 14, 2020, surrounded by her family at her home in Ledbetter.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James A. Simpson; parents, Oscar Sr. & Bertha Mann; brother, Oscar Mann Jr., and great grandson, Ayden Miller.

Cindy is survived by her three children, Lisa Knapp and her husband, Dale of Spring, Jimmy W. Simpson of Ledbetter, and Sharon Elliott and her husband, Arthur of Iowa; six grandchildren, James Michael Miller, Travis H. Simpson of Ledbetter, Hollye Simpson Fain and her husband Clayton of Giddings, Allysa Redd of Giddings, Amelia Anne Knapp of College Station, and Alan Cole Knapp of Spring; three great grandchildren, Jason James Simpson, Landon Miller, and Liam Miller all of Ledbetter; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Memorials may be made to a local cancer society of one’s choice.
