Biography

Elizabeth was born about 1772 in Essex County, New Jersey, one of three known children and two daughters of Christopher and Ann Unknown Mann
On 7 March 1795, when she was in her mid-twenties, she married Joseph Washburn in Mason County, Kentucky, and they had the following children:
  1. Cornelius Washburn
  2. Mary Elizabeth (Washburn) Laycock
  3. William Washburn
  4. Elizabeth Azuba (Washburn) Newlin
  5. John Mann Washburn
At some point she and her husband seem to have migrated to Indiana, and on 22 August 1833, when she was in her early sixties, Elizabeth died of unknown causes in Crawfordsville, Montgomery County, Indiana,

Her parents were Christopher and Ann Mann of Virginia.
Charles Brinkley, Jr is a 4th great grandson of Joseph and Elizabeth (Mann) Washburn. He states that Joseph is buried at Salem Cemetery (Wabash DAR Chapter records), and that Elizabeth is buried in the Old Pioneer Cemetery, Waynetown. He also states her date of death as 22 August 1833 - "she died in her 61st year". This information came from Charles' 3rd great grandfather's bible (Cornelius Washburn) and in his own handwriting.
