Hi Marybeth,

The Ireland Project (previously the Irish Roots Project) has now changed its structure into Teams. We require everyone with the Ireland Badge to be a member of at least one Team or Sub-Team and our google group. See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Ireland for details. The Teams are :-

1. Categories Team
2. Counties Team
3. Managed Profiles Team
4. Membership Team
5. Profile Improvement Team
6. Topics Team
7. Diaspora

? Can you let me know if you’d like to stay on in the new project and which team(s) you’d like to join. Please also let me know your e-mail address so that I can get you added to the project’s Google Group or confirm you are already a member of the google group.

Many thanks,

Maria

Greetings,,

Congratulations, you've been a WikiTree member for a month! We're glad you're here. A few tips to help you dive in even deeper:

Check out Beyond the Basics of WikiTree for a guide on some of our more advanced features such as Projects, Categories, and Merging.

We're very active on our social sites and we have an excellent blog where you'll find our monthly newsletter as well as tips, interviews with our members and guest posts from others in the genealogy community.

As always, I'm here to help if you have any questions!

Guy ~ WikiTree Mentor

Hi ,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Guy ~ WikiTree Mentor

Hello,

Thank you for signing the Honor code. Collaboration, accurate information and good sources are the basis for a great WikiTree.

By signing the Honor Code you're telling others you are a responsible Wiki genealogist.

Feel free to ask me via my profile page if you have any questions.

Have a nice journey on Wikitree,

Guy - Wikitree Mentor / Leader

I don't know if Larry was a vet. He's my 2nd cousin, but I don't really know him...only met him once.

Hi, Marybeth -- I just saw your note on my wall, and I'm happy to see that Ludwig got you all squared away. I hope you're enjoying Wikitree!

Hi Marybeth,

Thanks for your message indicating you are willing to volunteer and encountering brick walls. Please ask questions in the Wikitree G2G forum as shown below. I have found WikiTree to be an excellent tool for research and collaboration.

You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add Profiles to WikiTree. Once you entered your family members it is exciting to see other people finding your family profiles, asking questions, and expanding it.

If you need any help getting started check out the help section from the menu, top left, or head over to the G2G forum, you might want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.

Our Mentor Team are a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to help you with specific problems if you have any.

Great to have you on board, good luck growing your branches, and thanks for offering to help with our shared tree.

Ludwig :)

Yes I can volunteer! I live near Bowling Green Ohio. I am searching for family in Ireland: Kirkwoods and Mann surnames. I have run into a road block on both sides of my tree. I don't know much about my biological father. He was in the Vietnam war-Larry Hunter. His grandmother lived in Stockton California and my mother believes that's where he grew up. She did not know his actual age. My guess is 1945-1955. He was a heroin addict and may be dead. My mothers fathers mother was from Northern Ireland, Protestant, County Down and her name was Alice Mary Montgomery Kirkwood. Her father was William Kirkwood and mother Mary Anne Perry. Road block there. Also my mom's fathers dad is James Mann and I found his Ellis Island record but nothing fits him in Northern Ireland. Any help would be great!
