DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Samuel by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Samuel:

I agree with everything you've said but I wonder about one thing. Ally Mann signed for Nancy Mann too marry Mr. Patrick. Therefore, lots of people assume that her/Samuel's mother was Alice. Isn't it possible that it was her father Alister or Alexander or some other nickname. Do we have anything else to tell us whether Ally was a man or a woman?

Here's the link to What we have on Alice Mann. I do believe that the information here may not be 100 Percent, because it is hard to find any kind of verifiable sources. But there are these property tax lists below attributable to an Alice Mann.

https://www.genealogy.com/ftm/m/i/l/Mary-A-Million/GENE8-0001.html

I have seen this information in a different form as that translated from the original tax lists. It is pretty reliable that it is an Alice Mann, and it is generally attributed to OUR Alice Mann.

Thanks for your research into this. I hope we can all continue to find and share more information. Karla

Mann-4930 and Mann-207 do not represent the same person because: These are different Samuel Manns. The Samuel Mann that died in 1841 was a settler in Kentucky. The Samuel Mann that died in 1850 was a settler in Tennessee. These Samuel Mann's represent different lineages. Please read the comment sections in Mann-207 for the deeper explanation of this. However there is an error in Mann-4930.Mann 4930 married Nancy Perkins only, not Preshi Dykes. Mann-207 married Preshi Dykes and an unknown.

I have received new information from the researchers of the Robert and Isabel Mann family of Henrico, VA. This would put the Samuel I, II, and III (from the previous comment) as a different family than the Samuel Mann of Kentucky that is this profile, Mann-207.

"I saw the posting regarding Samuel Mann of Kentucky in the daily Wikifeed email. I have a couple of cousins who are doing extensive research, including DNA analysis, regarding the family of Robert and Isabel Griffin Mann of the Henrico/Amelia, VA area. This Mann family is English in origin. One of these cousins works with the Mann research group on the FTDNA web site, where male Y-DNA can be tested and assigned to the specific Mann family that they belong to.

From the information they've provided me, I don't think that the message you received about Samuel Mann and Nancy Perkinson refers to the same as your Samuel Mann of KY, who died in 1841. These researchers have this Samuel and Nancy Mann moving from Virginia to Haywood County, TN, seen in the 1850 census there, both aged 75, born in VA. Their son Joseph Mann, born 1812 in VA, also lived near them. This Samuel Mann III died in 1856 in Haywood, TN. His parents were Samuel Mann, Jr and Phebe Perkinson of Amelia and Charlotte, Co, VA.

The Manns and Perkinsons of that part of southern VA had several marriages between them over several decades. "
