Elopement

On the night of Tuesday 4 December 1900, William Mann (age 24) and Charlotte (Lottie) Carr (age 14) left Corning in secret, and were married on Wednesday afternoon in Elmira NY. Lottie told the minister she was over 18. The pair was found the next day and separated by the police. The marriage was annulled in October 1901, upon request of Lottie's step-parents.
