Biography

Nancy "Agnes" Mann was born about 1853[1], probably at the family farm at Caddy, Drummaul, County Antrim, Ireland. She was the daughter of Isaac Mann and Maria Hill[2].

Agnes married James McCord, a widower, on 22 November 1878 at Antrim, County Antrim, Ireland.[3] They lived at Clonboy, Drummaul, County Antrim.

Agnes and James had three daughters: Maria McCord (b. 1879), Jane McCord (b. 1880), Eleanor McCord (b. 1882).

James died in April 1886 age 41. Agnes was pregnant with another child who was born in July 1886 and named James.

In James' will he makes bequests to his four daughters Minnie Margaret (from his first marriage, who was not living with him and Agnes), Maria, Jane, Ellen.[4]

Agnes married William McCord (James' brother) on 10 Oct 1892 at Manhattan, New York, New York, United States.[2] It is assumed they married overseas because it was not permitted in Ireland for a widow to marry her husband's sibling. They returned to Ireland and lived at Clonboy.

Agnes and William had two additional children: David McCord (b. 1893), Lizzie McCord (1895-1896).

In the 1901 Ireland census, Agnes was age 47 living at Clonboy, County Antrim with her husband William McCord (50), daughters Maria McCord (21), Janie McCord (20), Eleanor McCord (18), sons James McCord (14), David McCord (8). Also her sister Lizzie Mann (40).[5]

In the 1911 Ireland census, Agnes was age 57 living at Clonboy, Co. Antrim with her husband William McCord (60), daughters Maria McCord (31), Eleanor McCord (28), son David McCord (18). William and Agnes had been married 18 years and had 2 children 1 still living,[6]

Agnes' husband William died in 1918 age 69 at Clonboy.

Agnes died in 1943 age 90 at Clonboy[1][7]
