Biography

  • Hugh John Mann was born in 1889 at Gilnahirk, County Down, Ireland. He was the son of David Mann and Jane Hill[1].
  • In the 1901 Ireland census, Hugh was age 12 living at Gilnahirk, County Down with his father David Mann (51), mother Jane Mann (52), sisters Maria Mann (24), Mary Mann (21), Isabel Mann (19), Jane Mann (16), brother James Mann (14). Also Patrick Keanen (29) Farm Servant[2].
  • In the 1911 Ireland census, Hugh was age 22 living at Gilnahirk, County Down with his father David Mann (62), mother Jane Mann (63), sisters Maria Mann (34), Mary Mann (32), Isabel Mann (29). Also William White (23), Henry Boyd (18) Farm Servants[3].
  • Hugh married Ellen Jane Garrett on 10 Apr 1918 at Gilnahirk[4]. It is not known how many children they had.
  • Hugh died in 1965 age 75 at Gilnahirk[5].
