Biography

Jeremiah was born in 1775, most likely in southern Virginia (Nottoway Parish of Amelia County), as his older brother Jesse and his 2 youngest brothers Henry and Asa are linked by census and other records to Virginia as their place of birth. Also, his mother Judith Johns Mann lived in the southern part of Amelia County, VA (Nottoway Parish) prior to her marriage to James Mann, Sr. Jeremiah Mann moved from Elbert County to Upson County in middle Georgia, within approximately 30 miles of his older brother John Mann of Monroe County. After Jeremiah's death around October 1845, his widow Nancy Burk Mann lived briefly in Monroe County where her parents were still living, at an advanced age. (The transcribed copy of his brother John Mann's Family Bible listed his death in 1838, but that was clearly an error, as Jeremiah died 4 years after his brother John's death in 1841).

Note: some researchers online have blended this Jeremiah Mann with a totally different person, named Jeremiah Davis Mann, who was from a different Mann family in the early 19th century in Georgia.

2 of Jeremiah and Nancy's children include: Robert Burke Mann (b 1810 GA -1890 Louisiana) and Jeremiah Rabun (or Raborn) Mann (1812 GA -1857 Monroe County, GA). Daughters were Sarah, Nancy, and Elizabeth.
