Biography

William Mann son of William Mann and Isabella Bell was born about 1857, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. His Nationality is stated as Irish; on the Shipping to Brisbane Custom House, Index

Shipping records reveal he arrived as a 2 year old with his parents on the ship "Shackamaxon"; they arrived in Moreton Bay, Brisbane on 24 November 1859.

Married Matilda Johnston 22 February 1882 Queensland, Australia^[1] and they had ten known children named:- William Thomas Mann, Elizabeth Mann, Matilda Mann, Isabella Mann, Edith Mann, Ethel Jane Mann, James Henry Mann, Emily Mann, George Mann and Robert Mann.

They lived at Beenleigh; Queensland; however, later years; prior to his death were spent at Gramzow; now known as Carbrook,

During World War One Gramzow, became known as Carbrook; all German names were altered and discarded.

While in Beenleigh in 1903 he advertised in a Sydney newspaper seeking the address of missing person; David Mann. I guess this was a relative, possibly a brother?

Death occurred on 29 June 1913 in Queensland, Australia; buried at Beenleigh Cemetery with his wife and son.
