He became a wealthy and prosperous planter and owned all the land which now comprises the town of Latta, SC. At the time of his death, his personal property was appraised at $4,747.80 although he had previously sold several plantations to give money to his sons to go West.
He is buried at Manning Family Cem, Latta, Dillon, SC.
