Ellen was a slave of Dr. James Manning. Ellen lived in Madison Co, AL.[1] It is unknown how old Ellen was in 1837 when James Manning named her in his will. James Manning's wish at death was that Ellen stay with his wife, Sophia Manning, in Huntsville, Madison Co, AL.
