Elna Månsdotter was born on April 4, 1810 in Slagesnäs in Jämshög, Blekinge, Sweden. She was the daughter of Måns Svensson and his wife Elna Nilsdotter.[1]
Crofter Lars Jönsson and his wife Elna Månsdotter lived in Snöfleboda when their first child, Bengta, was born in February 1832. According to the record they were both born in Slagesnäs, a village a few kilometers away. Elna's birth date is given as 4/4 1810 (=4 April). She arrived from the village Röan in 1831, which was when they married.[2] There is an unfortunate gap in the birth records for Jämshög between 1792 and 1818, which means that both their birth dates appear only in the household records..
Lars Jönsson and Elna Månsdotter stayed on in Snöfleboda and had more children. Somewhere in the sequence of records her birth date is miswritten as 11/4 1810; this error keeps being repeated.[3][4][5]
In their old age Elna Månsdotter and Lars Jönsson still lived in Snöfleboda, in the household of their married daughter Ingerd Larsdotter. At this time this part of the parish had been split off into a parish of its own, Kyrkehult. Lars died in 1870.[6]
Widow Elna Månsdotter in Snöfleboda died 28 October 1879.[7]
