Robert was born in 1846 and he passed away in 1914. [1]
We have been unable to find him (or his birth family) yet in the 1850 census.
Robert's entry in the 1860 census indicates his likely mother was Rebecca A. ______, b about 1824 in Alabama.[2] From later census records, it appears that Robert's father either died or left the family by 1860, and that Rebecca was pregnant with their youngest child.

They had the following children, all born Alabama:[2]

1870 (with wife, no children, but with his mother and siblings): Sanford Co., Alabama.[4]
1910 (possibly the widowed RG Mansell by himself): Bryan Co., Alabama. (But parents born Georgia, so not liking this one.)[5] This is believed to be the same man who is buried (1914) at Elm Grove Cemetery, Stillwater, Payne County, Oklahoma, USA, per Find-a-Grave.
Research Notes
A previous version of this profile claimed, without source, that Robert was the son of William George Mancill. But census records associated with William include no son by this name. Until we find evidence for Robert's origins, we are detaching this William George Mancill as father.
A previous version of this profile also claimed, without source, a specific birth date and place of 26 Feb 1846 in Lamar Co., Alabama. We seek evidence for this information. For example, there are no Mansells (var. spellings) in Lamar County in the 1850 census.
His Find-a-Grave profile claims a birth date of 26 Feb 1846, but if you look at the actual photo of the gravestone, the year is 1864.[6] We think, based on other data, that the gravestone is inaccurate, or if accurate, refers to a different man.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Robert by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Robert:
Mansell-1149 and Mansell-718 appear to represent the same person because: Robert George Mansell is my (Mansell-1149) great great grandfather. He is also my first cousin Ernest Lynn Rollins (Mansell-718) great great grandfather. I accidently created him on my tree and should have looked more closely.
