Not him

It appears that John (b 1702) and Peter (b 1697) are brothers, with John (b 1702) sometimes confused with Peter's son John (b 1728):
This page in a JSTOR article, lists the family of John's brother Peter, who married Hannah Kerby. It includes a son named John born 5 September 1728 and in a following list, John's death is given as 6 February 1758. In another JSTOR article, John Manson's will is listed as dated and recorded in 1758 in Elizabeth City County.[9][10]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

or maybe not a generational problem - I think the 1793 death date that was on this profile was his son Peter's death date. A profile for a daughter named Mary is attached to Pescud-12 (but she's Chisman, her mother's maiden name?). Mary's profile says she was born about 1748 and married a Robert Manson.

footnote says a daughter named Mary married a John Manson:

page 277 ... The Thomas Pescund was probably Pescud-13. I'm thinking that maybe there's a generation missing or merged at one point.

update2: see Manson-387 profile ... images of the will of Thomas Manson are attached.

update: nope. Already covered this. From Thomas Manson: "Some of the Buford records state that Thomas Manson married Mary Pegram, daughter of Edward, who was 18 years older than Ann. Thomas Manson's will, carefully examined by the compiler,[3] definitely proves that he married Ann, and not her sister Mary." ([3] leads to a link of "credits" for the Pegram Family Album)

A "Thomas Mansen" is said to be husband of Edward's daughter Mary (by Mary S. Baker), born 1744. A brother of this John?

I think the death date of about 1793 is for his son Peter? The will for Peter was registered in 1793, Dinwiddie County.

update: merge completed

Manson-85 and Manson-18 appear to represent the same person because: These duplicates should be merged. I've found nothing to dissuade me that the profiles are for the same person. Thanks!

Manson-18 and Manson-416 appear to represent the same person because: I think they are... if you agree, please merge them. Thanks!

Liz: 416 and 39 and 18 are the same John. I cannot validate Martha as a daughter of John, altho her 1737 date of birth could fit in with Peter and Jane; hence cannot support merge of 85 - yet.

There is an argument that Martha Pegram Lewis is the wife of John and the mother of Jane and Peter, but she would have had to have been married at age 11 / 12 if reported birth date in Bristol parish, York, Virginia, British America correct.

Hi again! I added a profile for the father of Peter Manson (John Manson , but the more I look at this profile & the one I added... Well, I've convinced myself that they're a match. However, if they're also a match with Manson-18 and Manson-39, then all the duplicates should be merged into Manson-18 directly. Do you think all four are probably the same person? Thanks!
