Sophie, the daughter of Nicholas Marchand and Marguerite Gendron, was born and baptized 21 February 1821 in Chateauguay. The Saint Joachim parish register identifies her as ""Sophie née ce jour du légitime mariage de Nicolas Marchand cultivateur de cette paroisse et de Marguerite Jeandron. Parrain Joseph Marchand, Marraine Theotiste Jeandron."[1]
On 19 February 1838 she married Alexis Hébert. The Saint Joachim parish records state that the marriage was between "Alexis Hébert cultivateur fils majeur de Paul Hébert & Josephte Tougas de la paroisse de St Clement d'une part, et Sophie Marchand fille mineure de Nicolas Marchand cultivateur et de Marguerite Gendron de cette paroisse d'autre part; . . . en présence de Paul Hébert père, Geoffroy Hébert frère de l'époux, Jacques Goguet, Nicolas Marchand père de l'épouse, François Roi, Eric Bourion et de plusieurs autres parens et amis."[2]
Widowed in 1890, Sophie was living with her son Henri at the time of her death in 1911.[3] She herself died 14 June 1911 in Saint Étienne de Beauharnois and is buried in the parish cemetery.[4]
