Professor Leslie Marchant AM (1924-2004) was a Western Australian scholar and academic with a long connection to the University of Western Australia. He is best remembered for his work on the history and geography of the French exploration of Western Australia. His papers are held in the Special Collections, UWA Information Services.
The collection contains papers, notebooks, correspondence, publications, illustrations, maps, microfilms, audio cassettes, photographic material (photographs and negatives), and other material relating to Professor Marchant's various academic interests, in particular China and Australia’s early maritime history. The collection also includes material entrusted to Professor Marchant relating to Yusef Peter Louis Bladen-Pryor (series 2) and W.A. “Buzz” Farmer (series 6).
