Achille Marcoux, was baptized as Joseph Achille Marcoux, but is found in most official records as Achille, though is sometimes referred to as Archille in family history and some family trees.
Achille and his descendants are included in the family history book "Les Labonté, pionniers d'une belle vallée" [1] (nice play on words, since the town they share is Belle Vallée, Ontario, Canada). Page 156 shows a photo of Archille (as he is referred to in the book) and and his wife Alphonsine, and their children are listed on page 157, and descendants on the following pages.
Regarding his preferred name, it is possible he went by Archille himself. His signature on the parish records at his own wedding and his father's funeral could be interpreted as either "Achille" or "Archille".
