Stephen was the son of James Marden of New Castle, Rockingham County, New Hampshire and Abigail Webster Marden of Haverhill, Essex County, Massachusetts.
Stephen married Charity Lang on 21 May 1721 in Portsmouth, Rockingham County, New Hampshire. They had six children.
Note: Stephen, a cordwainer, lived at Little Harbor and had a ferry to Great Island (Newcastle). He was also the Town Clerk of Rye from 1741-1766.
