A handwritten note in the supporting documentation for civil births tells us that Maestro Stefano Frisella, son of Maestro Giuseppe, who lives in the San Leonardo quarter of Corleone, has a son with Mattea Marino, daughter of the late Paolo, born the tenth of February, 1847. He requests the child to be baptized Giuseppe Marino, in the mother’s surname. He marries Mattea in November, making their son legitimate.[1] Giuseppe is named after Stefano's father. The son's baptismal record confirms this. Giuseppe's godparents are Biagio Gariffo and Liboria Billitti, a married couple.[2]
