Esther (Marion) Mitchell was a South Carolina colonist.

Esther Marion was born around 1722 in Berkeley County, South Carolina. She was a daughter of Gabriel Marion Sr. and Esther Cordes. She was a sister to General Francis Marion, the Swamp Fox.[1][2]

Around 1740, she married John Allston of Prince George's Parish, planter.[1][2] The children of Esther and John Allston were:[1][2]

  1. Martha (1740-), m. Benjamin Young
  2. Elizabeth (1742-1764), m. Benjamin Simons III
  3. Hester or Esther Cordes (1744-1762)
  4. Ellinor (Eleanor), (1746-1836), m. Peter Simons
  5. Ann, died in infancy
  6. John (1748-), died in infancy

Esther's husband John died in 1751, and she remarried, to Dr. Thomas Mitchell. [1] The children of Esther and Thomas Mitchell were:[1]

  1. Sarah, died young
  2. Sarah Marion (1761-1836), m. Benjamin Clark Cutler[3]
  3. Elizabeth, m. Dr. Thomas Waring
  4. Charlotte, died young
  5. Thomas
  6. Edward

Esther passed away around 1828.[4]
