Biography

Isobel, daughter of Allan Mark & Isobel Brown, was born in 1 and baptised on 26 January 1817 in Shotts, Lanarkshire, Scotland.^[1]

In the 1851 census Isabella (age 34), Tambourer, was the wife of Michael Hendry in School Row S, Whitburn, West Lothian.^[2]

Isabella Mark Hendry emigrated to America with her son, John Mark Hendry, and his wife Margaret, plus five other of her children: James, Allan, Michael, Elizabeth and Janet. They left Liverpool, England on 26 April 1855 on the ship "William Stetson" and arrived in New York on 27 May 1855. Isabella was a widow at the time. Copy of ship's passenger list in my files.

In the 1860 census Isabelle (age 40) was in Cache, Utah Territory.^[3]

There is a Michael HENRY (age 57) and Isabell HENRY (age 55) with daughter Jannett age 17 (born in Scotland) and daughter Jane age 13 (born in Pennsylvania). But if this is our same family, then it must be a different father, because Jannett's father died in Scotland before they came to America.
