Margaret Mark arrived NZ in the Matoaka, 1869. She is listed in the passenger list as a dairy maid. [1]

Walter James left Margaret with six children, the eldest 20 and the youngest 7 years of age when he died. He died intestate, without leaving a will. However, the probate file states that all his possessions were to be administered by Margaret Jane. [2]

Margaret continued to live in Gloucester Street Christchurch until late in life. She died at the home of her daughter Alice in Whangarei. [3]

Margaret and her husband are buried in Linwood cemetery, Christchurch City, Canterbury, New Zealand.
