Biography

Born in Cotham, Nottinghamshire, England or East Markham, Nottingham,England, from merge, yet listed as Adela in Families of Yorkshire.

Elizabeth, or Adela, was the daughter of Sir John Markham by his first wife Elizabeth de Cressi.

She married Sir Robert Stanhope. A Monument to their memory was erected in York Minster, but has since been destroyed.
