Ann Amelia Markham was a daughter of Col. John Markham. She first married Dr. Thomas Pierson/Pearson in about 1732. Of this marriage there were four known children. She married Col. Charles A. Broadwater, Jr. in Fairfax County, Virginia about 1750. Of this marriage there were six known children. She died in Fairfax County on 29 June 1796 and was buried in the Broadwater Family Cemetery, Fairfax County, Virginia.

Charles Lewis Broadwater, (1752-1841), enlisted 1776 as midshipman on the sloop Congress and served one year. In 1778 he served as lieutenant under Capt. Thomas West, Col. Edward Stevens 10th Virginia regiment and resigned at Valley Forge. He was placed on the pension roll 1830 of Fairfax county where he was born and died.
