Biography

Hannah was born about 1627. She is the daughter of Unknown Marsh. She and her brothers Samuel and Jonathan came to this country in 1641. They all came here under a contract of indentured servitude. They were all in New Haven, CT by 1643. She was first married to Lancelot Fuller, and she married (secondly) after November 1652 to John Finch Jr.

In December 1645 she sued Francis Brewster for calling her a "Billingsgate slutt". Hannah was in court on several occasions concerning slander, and as late as February 1664/65, she was a witness in a case in which her daughter (Mary Fuller) was convicted of lewd behavior.

Marsh-359 and Marsh-4623 do not represent the same person because: Hannah born in 1635 in New York cannot be the Hannah (b. ca. 1627) who was sister of Samuel and Jonathan, because Hannah, Samuel and Jonathan didn't come to the colonies until 1641.

Also note my comment that Hannah born in 1635 cannot be daughter of John Marsh and Grace Baldwin, because John Marsh died in 1627 (eight before 1635) and they would never have been in New York. The parents of Hannah born in 1635 are apparently unknown.

I just got done adding an extensive research note to the "brother" of this profile, Samuel. I find no record that any of them immigrated in 1641 per what seems to be the pre-eminent researcher so far, Dwight Whitney Marsh https://archive.org/details/marshgenealogygi00mars/page/n25/mode/2up Plus I don't find anything stating that Samuel had siblings or even that Hannah had siblings. She definitely appeared in the New Haven court records (see Records of colony of New Haven https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/4113932) but that was on 3 Dec 1645 and I see no earlier appearance.

Do you have any source for the sibling relationships? Thanks for checking!

Hanna's and her brothers came to this country in 1641. The older brother Samuel was born in 1620, Jonathan was a year younger and I believe Hanna was about 14 and she was born in England.

They all came here under a contract of indentured servitude. They were all in New Haven, CT by 1643. The court records of New Haven, CT can be downloaded in PDF format. There are two volumes with each having about 700 pages each. They are indexed and give the page numbers of each family member when any legal documents were recorded or Court records. Hanna had several occasions in court where the wives of one of Hanna's contract holders complained that Hanna did not act properly with men. Jealous old biddies Her older brother Samuel Marsh, Sr. Is my 11th generation, 8th great-grandfather.
